grocery shopping

Members First Credit Union is partnering with Mackinaw High School through a $20,000 Live and Learn Grant from the National Credit Union Foundation! Mackinaw is the pilot school for this program, which gives students a stipend for completing a five-week Live and Learn course held one day a week after school.

The hands-on lessons are giving students practical skills they can use every day. Students explore money management, cooking, affordable living resources and even basic do-it-yourself auto repair at Garber Buick.

During their second lesson, students headed to Kroger for a real-world grocery shopping experience. Armed with a meal plan and a set budget, they learned how to make smart purchasing decisions, compare products and understand cost per ounce to get the most value for their money.

Thank you to Emily Holty and Members First Credit Union for investing in our students and helping them build skills for life!
