Saginaw Township Community Schools is pleased to welcome Kyle Smith as the district's new Director of Facilities.
A 2005 graduate of Heritage High School, Smith returns to the district as both an alumnus and a parent. He and his wife, Kristy, are raising their three children in Saginaw Township, where each attends Saginaw Township Community Schools.
His experience managing teams, overseeing projects, and maintaining properties with his own business has prepared him to lead the district's facilities operations with a focus on accountability, efficiency, and long-term planning.
Smith joins the district at an important time as Saginaw Township Community Schools places a renewed emphasis on its facilities, establishing a clear vision for safe, clean, well-maintained learning environments and responsible long-term stewardship of district buildings and grounds.
"My commitment is simple,” explained Smith. “To transform our approach from reactive to proactive. I am dedicated to elevating the standard of our facilities, ensuring they are high quality learning environments our students deserve.”
Smith is also deeply involved in youth hockey throughout the Great Lakes Bay Region. He has multiple roles on a youth hockey board (GSAHA), helped support the Memorial Cup, and has dedicated countless hours to coaching and mentoring young athletes. Smith believes every young person deserves positive role models and opportunities to grow through life's challenges. Through coaching and mentorship, he encourages young people to learn from mistakes, make positive choices, and recognize that character is built through perseverance, accountability, and resilience.
"We're excited to welcome Kyle back to Saginaw Township Community Schools," Superintendent Jamie Kraatz said. "As an alumnus, parent, business owner, and community leader, he understands where we've been and shares our vision for where we're headed. Kyle's leadership, work ethic, and commitment to this community will help move that vision forward."
