steve elliott

Steve has been serving Saginaw Township Community Schools with exceptional dedication since 1995. As the Director of Community Education, Steve has created countless STCS programs, providing services for all ages - infants to senior citizens. Some of his most notable achievements include: the creation of Mackinaw High School, the creation of the Sherwood Swim School and Senior Fitness Programs, and the creation of Step By Step Preschool and Child Care Center. He also established and has directed several district wide programs, such as: before and after school childcare, summer child care, summer school, the Elementary Running Club, and adult and community education classes offered through STCS.

There are many more contributions Steve has made to STCS and the community, but perhaps the pinnacle of Steve’s accomplishments can be attributed to the recent reopening of the Sherwood Pool. When the Sherwood Pool closed in 2022 as a result of a HVAC malfunction, he made it his mission to ensure the pool was restored. He fought diligently to raise the $1.9 million dollars required for the project, pursuing every avenue possible to procure the funding. In 2024, after several persuasive meetings, Steve secured the funding through a grant, and then in March of this year, the pool reopened.

Please join us in sharing our appreciation for all that Steve has done to serve our community over the past 31 years and say hi as he leads the homecoming parade on September 25, starting at 4:30 pm!
