The books have been distributed. The reading has commenced. Mrs Charity met with all of our teams for Battle of the Books. Students in teams read from a list of 12 books and then compete based on their knowledge.
Meet our resident zoologists! Third grade are began their second CKLA unit as they research animals. Today they started by being observers of animals at the Smithsonian's National Zoo. Mrs Selk's class especially loved the naked mole rat as it scurried around is habitat.
And they're off! The Eagles are soaring over to Hartley Nature Center to enjoy three days and two nights exploring.

Feverishly putting their pencils to their journals, Eagles in Ms Csongradi's classroom are completing their Friday reflection journals. Each of the students write weekly to a grown up of their choice and get to hear back from that grown up. It has been a great way for students to communicate with their grown up and also get writing practice! The hardworking Eagles even got to sit in special spots to complete their writing. #EaglesBelieveEaglesAchieve
The Eagles flew to a different nest this morning to join the Hawk's Nest to witness the magic of the Heritage High School Marching Band. Thanks to a STCS Foundation Grant our elementary music programs participated in a field trip to visit this musical celebration. In coming months all grade levels will have similar opportunities.

Who did it? Students in Mr Meisel's classroom got to solve the mystery today of who is the werewolf as a fun reward to hard work and attending school on a half day. They had to use deductive reasoning and clues to figure out the culprit.
Celebrating their hard work and completion of Unit 1, third graders got to watch the original Alice in Wonderland movie after discovering the story as part of CKLA Unit 1. On fables and fairytales Student also shared their opinion on which is better- the book or the movie. What would you say? #EagleBelieveEaglesAchieve

Each year Arrowwood is happy to serve as a host site for SVSU partnering their education students with our phenomenal teachers. Ms. Savana in Mrs. Annear’s class led a science experiment find out what conditions worms like to live in with the Eagles this week.

Mrs Mason's students were exploring Identifying characters, plot, setting and theme while partner reading the Wind and Willows. One of the many classic tales they are encountering with Amplify CKLA, the district's new literacy program.
The White Pine Cross Country Team is excited to host our Annual Hawks Fall Classic one mile race on Thursday, October 22nd at White Pine MS..
