Literacy Connections provides a wealth of information on reading, teaching and tutoring techniques, ESL literacy, and adult literacy. We recommend resources that are useful for teachers, volunteers, and directors of literacy programs. Topics include the language experience approach, phonics, word study, word families, and the best in children’s literature.
This site offers a paid side for students, but the teacher accounts are free. You can find many great books on this site. Perfect for a read aloud, where everyone can see!

Book Flix- This Scholastic site has paired books that students can listen to and read. There are activities that go along with them. A great way to allow choice.

Britannica Schools- An online encyclopedia that you can use at different levels. Super for differentiation.

E-Book K-8 Collection- This collection of books are downloadable. You could save a story and then share it with students digitally. Many of the stories are high interest text with great illustrations and graphics.

Khan Academy- This website started out as a resource for secondary students, but they are constantly adding content and now you can find almost all subjects and levels represented. There are activities and videos that reinforce concepts.

This website offers 15 themes and over 6000 detailed images. Great for teaching in the content area.
Think of padlet as a virtual wall that you can hang anything on! The possibilities for Padlet are endless! You could use it to flip your classroom, display student work, share resources, create projects… be creative.
PicLits let students use pictures to inspire their writing or serve as a backdrop for quotes, poems, songs, raps, etc.. Students can either pick from word lists or write their own in the freestyle section.

Reading Recs allows the teacher to assign readings to students that they then record. They can do a retell and answer questions when finished. The teacher can then listen to the reading and complete a running record.

This website has current event articles on it that can be leveled for a variety of readers. In addition there are book and movie reviews that are of interest to the student. The free version allows teachers to set up a class and assign articles. There is a paid version that has more features.
