Philosophy
Step By Step is committed to recognizing the individuality of each child enrolled in our program.  We assist children in developing their own natural talents and help them discover new ones.
 
An open cooperative relationship between our center and your home is imperative.  Together, we share the responsibility of providing a secure and nuturing environment for your child.  We focus on the individual needs of the total child, including emotional, cognitive, social and physical skill development.  School readiness skills are also emphasized.
 
Your child's early experience with preschool child care and school settiongs will follow them throughout their life.  Our goal is to make it a positive one!

  • Full Year Program (closed holidays)
  • Registration for a full year
  • Minimum paid attendance is 2 days per week
  • Snacks provided
  • Child must be 3 years old by the time they start the program & be toilet trained to attend

Application & Registration
To reserve your child's space in our program, there is a non-refundable $15 individual or $20 family application fee.  Registration packets will be mailed to you and are also available at the Community Education Office.

Goals and Objectives

Our program strives to:
•  Focus on the whole child, including social, physical, mental, academic and healthy environment.
•  Offer individuated curriculum
•  Encourage parents to be active participants in their child's development
•  Offer a quality preschool experience for "at-risk" 4 year olds
•  Build positive self-esteem
•  Develop the independence and knowledge necessary for a smooth transition into kindergarten.

Who May Enroll
Any Saginaw Township resident is welcome to apply for enrollment of their four year old child.  The child must turn four on or before December 1, 2008.  A pre-enrollment screening will determine if the family meets the "at-risk" criteria set forth by the Michigan Department of Education.
