Greg Hayes is exceptionally honored to continue as Principal at Hemmeter Elementary School for the 2011-12 school year.

Greg initially found that he enjoyed teaching while in high school, first teaching lessons to youngsters at Mesa Elementary School, and later at the Calwood Environmental Learning Center.  His experience in schools ranges broadly, having worked with students of all abilities and ages. 

Before coming to the Saginaw Township Community Schools, Greg has taught in Arizona, Colorado, and Vermont, enjoying positions at Collier Elementary School, Kestral Charter High School, Lincoln Elementary School, Littleton Elementary School, McClennan Elementary School, the New England Culinary Institute, Quentin Elementary School, Skyview Charter School, and the Whittier International School. 

Greg earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology from Colorado State University and a Master of Arts Degree in Educational Leadership and Curriculum Design from Prescott College.  Greg currently attends the California Institute of Integral Studies, and has previously attended the University of Colorado, Instituto Technilogico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, and Yestermorrow Design/Build School. 

Greg has held a K-8 Teaching License with a Gifted Education endorsement and an Administrative Supervisor's License in the State of Arizona, and currently holds an Elementary Teaching License and Pre-school - 12th Grade Gifted and Talented Specialist License in the State of Colorado, and a K-12 and Central Office Administrative License in the State of Michigan. As well, Greg has been trained in incident management and response by FEMA and is a certified examiner for Pearson Field Research

In his spare time, Greg likes to explore the mountains of Colorado, rivers of Michigan, and everything about Vermont.  He enjoys climbing, cycling, skiing, swimming, rowing, and cooking up good healthy food with family and friends. 

Greg is excited to continue as Principal at Hemmeter and looks forward to working closely with the exceptional students, teachers, staff, and families at Hemmeter Elementary School.
