28 Days later is a movie based in the United Kingdom about a type of virus that is similar to George A. Romero's Night of the living dead. But this experimental film decided to take on an entire new approach to zombies. The experiment in this film was that there was a virus that made "zombie like" people. Instead of the old classic "brain eaters" this virus in the film induces anger and hunger for human flesh. The victims instead of a slow and painful death once infected by saliva, blood, or any other transference of bodily fluids it takes merely 30 seconds for the virus to take effect. The movie in the sense of the storytelling and or camera/lighting use is brilliant. The camera angles of the zombies is mostly an upward looking shot, which makes the zombies appear bigger and more scary. The camera would be almost quivering along with the survivors as the zombies where running around trying to find them. The lighting was sometimes dark and ominous, but enough light to see everyone's faces that are always in a state of being petrified, or showing their inner strength. In the experimental aspect the idea of zombies that would be angry and chase you running is much more scary. I believe the experiment and the filming aspect of this movie is absolutely divine. |
