Common Ground Garden Party - Saturday, May 16

At 10 am, Saturday, May 16, at 10:15 am, the Ground Breaking Ceremony signaled the opening of the newest addition to Saginaw Township - a community garden named Common Ground Garden! The community garden was sparked by the One Book, One Community Book Read "Seedfolks," and spearheaded by the Community School Organizers from Saginaw Township Schools (Colleen Carty, Cathi Kerns, Linda Perry, and Chris Tiderington) and Bridget Smiht from Saginaw Charter Township's Community Development Department.

Beginning Memorial day, community members who applied for a garden plot will start planting their flowers and vegetables. These gardens can be viewed from the rail trail behind the Center Courts Facility. Come watch the planting, the growing, and, in the spirit of "Seedfolks," stop in a while to join the conversations with our first "community gardeners!"
